Friends of Scouting

Posted on Apr 28 2016 - 9:44pm

Thank you to all the Pack 788 families who returned a pledge envelope!

We would like to remind everyone that Friends of Scouting pledge cards are still being collected.

At Pack 788, as with all packs in the council, we aim for 100% participation in the Friends of Scouting campaign, regardless of the pledged amount. If your family can pledge as little as $1.00, please do so. The sealed envelopes will be delivered to the council headquarters unopened, so no one in Pack 788 will be able to view the pledged amount.

If your family has not returned your pledge, please return it to Tom Tyler. If you have not yet received your pledge card, they will be available at all pack events.

The purpose of the Friends of Scouting campaign is to ensure that the Heart of Virginia Council of the BSA has adequate funding to support each scout in the packs within the district. The cost to support one scout for one year is $250.00.

Friends of Scouting -- Annual Fund 2013

Dear Fellow Scout Parents,

Scouting provides many rewarding opportunities for your son to discover the ability to lead teach and instill confidence in others.  For the past 100 years, the Heart of Virginia Council, Boy Scouts of America, has conducted programs designed to prepare young people for life!

The success of Scouting in Central Virginiadepends on those who support it. That includes the work of adult volunteers, the encouragement of parents, and the financial investments from Friends of Scouting! Your support is need now more than ever, to provide a quality Scout program to over 12,000 young people in 24 counties and 4 cities across centralVirginia.

Pack 788 receives many, “behind the scenes” benefits and services from the Heart of Virginia Boy Scout Council, and our own Pack Committee recognizes the importance of this.

We had our Friends of Scouting presentation at our recent Blue and Gold Banquet, which is what I wanted to follow up with you about. We had a wonderful ceremony and now I am following up on all those envelopes.  As you also know,

At the ceremony, we delivered a wonderful speech and video about what Scouting means to us, the families and parents of current scouts.  It was quite moving.  Please check out the video at http://hovc.org/supportScouting/fos-family-campaign/.  It is well worth the two minutes it takes to watch it.

Our Pack 788 Goal is to achieve 100% participation. This means that every family has the opportunity to support Scouting by returning the pledge card they will receive. Please return your pledge card.

You can write one check now to bring with you to our next meeting or I will have more pledge cards at that meeting and you can pledge an amount to be paid over the year by monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or one payment at a later date.

Thank you for being a Friend of Scouting and allowing us to work with your son!

 Sincerely,

 John
