Thank you to all of the Pack 788 Scouts, families and leaders who helped make our Fall Campout such a FANTASTIC trip to First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach the weekend of October 18-20th!
Please read carefully for all of the pertinent information for this weekend's camping trip. We are excited for this fun opportunity!

Driving Directions:
From I-64, take Exit 96 just east of Stuarts Draft. Go south on State Route 624, which becomes State Route 664 at Lyndhurst. Continue south on State Route 664 approximately 8 miles to the entrance to the Sherando Lake Recreation Area on the right. The gatehouse is approximately 0.5 miles ahead. If the gatehouse is closed, continue through the recreation area to your assigned campsite - Pack 788 will be at the far back group campsites (the farthest you can drive). We have reserved G1, G2, G3, and G4 campsites. Pick a place to set up your tent around the loop. You will be sharing sites with other families. Drop off your equipment and park in the parking lot nearby.
Friday Plans:
Arrive anytime after 5:00 pm at the campsite to set up your tent.
Dinner on your own before arriving
Campfire with stories before bed.
Lights out by 10:00pm.
Saturday plans:
Breakfast
After breakfast, morning hike led by Webelos II
Lunch
After lunch, families may choose: fishing in one of the lakes (adults fishing will need VA fresh water & Trout license which can be purchased at a nearby general store - please bring your own fishing equipment), adventuring/exploring around the campground/park, driving to nearby Grand Caverns (there is an additional fee not covered by the Pack), playing sports in the large field within our campsites, etc.

After dinner, campfire with stories, skits, s'mores
Lights out by 10:00pm
Sunday plans:
Breakfast
Pack-up to head home (leave around 10:00 am)
Dinner is on your own Friday - please plan to eat before or on your way. For those arriving right on time, vegetarian and beef chili will be available. Breakfast, snacks, lunch, and dinner will be provided on Saturday (vegetarian and non-beef/pork options available, no nut products) and breakfast Sunday morning.
Weather This Weekend:
Dry, Sunny, with Highs in the mid-60s and Lows at night in the mid-30s to mid-40s. Wear layers. Bring warm sleeping bags and extra blankets for sleeping comfortably. There is a slight chance for rain showers on Sunday (at this time, no forecast for timing) so be prepared with rain gear for packing up Sunday morning.
What to bring:
Tent with rain cover, stakes, hammer (to get stakes into ground)
Sleeping bags
Bed pads/air mattress (optional for comfort)
Flashlights or headlamps
Camping/Sports chairs
Clothing, toiletries, etc.
Please bring any medication you or your children require.
Expectations:
Every scout and every parent is expected to pitch in and help with set up, meal prep, clean up, and/or activities at some point during the weekend. Please be in charge of your child's behavior and safety - however if you see other scouts/children misbehaving or jeopardizing theirs or others' safety - please speak up. We want a safe and enjoyable experience for all. If you have knowledge or skills about camping, hiking, fishing, nature, the outdoors, etc., please feel free to speak up and share with all - Cub Scouts is all about learning and enjoying the great outdoors! We are excited for our first campout of the year and having so many of our families with us this coming weekend.
