2025 Cub Scout Day Camp and Overnight Camps from Heart of Virginia Council

Posted on Mar 3 2025 - 11:33am

Looking through your summer camp options?

Pack 788 scouts have enjoyed the Cub Adventure Day Camp offered the week of June 9th at nearby Deep Run Park.

Council has only posted high-level details on that website link and registration has not yet opened (typically does in April with plenty of space).  See Matt Sexstone for more details on what to expect.  He'll recommend it if you've got space in your summer calendar.  In 2024, we had 5-6 Cubs from Pack 788 attend with positive reviews.  Fishing, hiking, archery and BB gun adventures as well as plenty of crafts, STEM and games.

NOTE: Given the exceptionally low cost of the day camp program, it is set up on the expectation that parents will volunteer to be a "Den Parent" for one of the five days of camp.  You simply shadow the kids your child is in a "den" with to ensure they get from activity to activity and that they stay safe in-between those activities, get their restroom breaks, always travel with their "buddy", etc.

Also offered by council are four separate sessions of three-night overnight "camps" at Cub Adventure Camp in Goochland County from late June to the end of July.  This is an action backed several days where a parent and their cub(s) will enjoy a host of activities at the Camp's excellent facilities.

At both camp options, cubs will earn toward their next year's rank, giving them a head start once the Pack returns to regular meetings in September.
